RAIN AND LEAVES

It rained off and on all night. The rain collected in the leaf clusters of the lupins I transplanted last summer. They are growing very well and filling in beautifully. We have a purple one, purple and white, a maybe pink, and an unknown. Two of them were part of a wildlife mix we planted out back. They never did get big enough to bloom, so loking forward to some surprises.

I love lupines. I always thought their foliage was as pretty as the flowers, and that I would be happy to have it remain in the garden throughout the summer. But it always got major powdery mildew and I always had to cut it out by midsummer.

Haven't had powdery mildew but have to keep up the slug and snail bait. They do love the lower leaves. What's really surprised me is how large the blessed things have gotten. It's either a great spring for foliage or they're finally in the perfect spots to grow like crazy. Which they are doing.
