HOSPITALITY

Step back a little and take a deep breath. There are stories coming out of police laying down their heavy duty equipment. Even joining in a BBQ. I like it. But there is still the other side. And a current occupent who used force and tear gas so he could stroll down to a local church for a photo op. A church he has probably never been inside. He just stood in front of the message board and held up a book he claimed was a Bible

Some police out of control. Some idiots using this as an excuse for violence. Add a president who loves the title but ignores the responsibilities that come with the office. Refugees in cages. Citizens caught between a virus facing losing their jobs or risking their lives to do them. Angels can come unannounced. A little reminder to stop and make a little room. Maybe share a little.

A CELTIC RUNE OF HOSPITALITY

We saw a stranger yesterday. We put food in the eating place. Drink in the drinking place. Music in the listening place. And with the blessing of the Triune God we were blessed, and our house, and our cattle and our dear ones. As the lark says in her song: Often, often, often goes the Christ in the stranger's guisw.
