England WWII. If food rationing was an inconvenience in the US during WWII it was major in Britian. We're talking island here folks. There were sheep grazing in the sports fields, any land that could be used to grow food was put into production. Including a bomb crater. I have no idea how big the bomb was that made this crater. Or if it was more than one falling close together. If you look closely there ar three people in this picture. Gives you an idea how big this hole in terra firma was to start with.
No idea what's growing in the raised boundry around the garden but it was probably something edible. And it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't a few chickens for pest control that transformed into eggs or chicks. Turning destruction into creation.
